FN FS2000 to DPMS LR308

Last Friday I traded my FS2000 for a new DPMS LR308, to replace the one that, like an idiot, I let go a while back. Got the rifle, 4 mags, a JP VTAC handguard, and $250 on top. Next, it's off to Triangle Shooting Sports to get the carrier lightened, the barrel shortened to 21", barrel reprofiled down some, and a Rolling Thunder brake installed. I'll do the JP trigger. looking to get it down to about 8 lbs without the optic.

As far as the optic goes.... Well, I honestly haven't made up my mind. Might stick with the Meopta K-dot 1x4. They have been treating me very well in the shooting sports.

Not really worth seeing right now, looks pretty stock. But.... Gimme a little while. I'll be at the gun shop later in the week, I hope, and start turning the barrel down, cut it down to between 20 and 21 inches. Also thinking of installing a new gas block. Right now the barrel is 0.920" after the block, and a full 1.000" under the block. I'm thinking to take it down to 0.750 like a .223 AR at the gas block and then 0.700" from the gas block on out to the muzzle. From the chamber to the gas block I'm gonna turn it to 0.700" or 0.800"... Haven't decided yet. Need to get the rolling Thunder II brake in so I can measure the base to turn the muzzle accordingly. I'm also going to put the carrier on a diet, hopefully take about 25% to 30% of the mass off, lessen the reciprocating mass.

Don't get me on scopes yet. But I am leaning towards another Meopta. Or take the Meopta off my tac rifle and replace it with a new Burris XTR. Dunno... Really like those Meopta's. Can't reccomend them enough. Huge field of view and sensational clarity.
