Is it new or used? Rifle only, or rifle w/ rings, bases, and optic? If so, then what make? Any one been 'smithing on it yet? (losta people like to home tune a Remmy trigger) Help us out a little...
For rifle only: trade, maybe-ok. Trade plus cash, nah. On Remmy's site it has a MSRP of $681, I think we sold a bunch earlier in the year for $599+tax. The Hogue stock does feel good though...

So he's giving you the rifle and $250? That's better.

Shoots like a regular Remington. Think of it like a chevy 350. Super reliable, been around for ever, and everyone and their uncle makes parts for it.
Top it with some Leupold rings and one piece base, and some good optics. I'm more than partial to Leupold, never had a problem with one. don't skimp on optics. Too many guys buy a $700-$1500 gun and crown it with a $150 scope. You can't hit what you can't see, and good optics really let you see.
I'd reccomend a VXIII 3.5x10x40 or a 4.5.x14x40. I personally don't care for the huge objective lens scopes, because by design they must be mounted higher above the receiver to clear, mandating that you must use a higher cheek weld. You're not giving up much, just a couple feet of FOV at range, and argueably some light gathering.
Put it this way: I'm tuning me up a long range toy now, a Remmy 700 R5, and I topped it with a Leupold VXIII 6.5x20x40 mainly because I wanted it to be as low profile as I could manage.

No kidding?! Nice. The LR/T huh, what reticle? I'm a big fan of the 30mm tube/low profile scopes. You like those tall turrets? I'm a little partial to the one one the 3.5x10 M3, lower profile. I had Stoney Creek tall target turrets (say that 3 times fast) on a 12x Leupold and kept hanging them on stuff, now they're in a drawer on my work bench.
What reticle?
One of these days I'm gonna spring for a NightForce. Maybe on my 6.5x284 when it get finished. Oh well...

ive got a buddy with a 6.5x284 that is amazing. it sits in a mcmillan a5 stock, with a nightforce on top of it. he shoots a lot competively and does really well. he said commonly shoots 6-7 inch groups at 1000 yrds with a best (kind of a fluke) at 3.5 inchs. anyways its a great caliber, but he said itll eat up a barrel pretty quick comapred to other cals. he hangs around the surgeon guys in prague and does a lot of work with them. i get to shoot with those guys occasionally and i wish i had the skills that those guys have. amazing, and the things they can make a rifle do is amazing as well

Yeah, barrel life is around 850-ish for it. This one is gonna sit in a Shehane MBR Tracker stock, and I honestly haven't decided on a scope yet. Too many good choices.
Something else... I'm getting the hots for a .243 again. Just can't seem to stay away. Comparable ballistics to .308 with less free recoil, this could be my new MOR game gun.
