Should CC Be Allowed On College Campuses?

I think that it should. Somebody who has a CC permit knows the responcibility that goes along with that, and should be able to defend themselves in case somebody decides to shoot up the school. What are your thoughts?

That's a loaded question, literally, in my opinion. I'm one of those "in between" kind of guys when it comes to gun rights. While I think it's your right to carry a gun so long as you didn't do something to lose that privilege (like being a criminal or mentally unstable) - I'm also for protecting people from potential accidents and/or unnecessary use of force. With all those people in one public place, it's unlikely that you'll encounter an issue needing a firearm in a place like that. Also what if somebody that shouldn't have access to your gun grabs it as you walk by, there's a lot of stressed out college kids.

I don't know, while I think you should have a right to carry your gun anyplace within reason if you're responsible enough to, I also think there should be some responsibility for keeping guns out of the school system - save for maybe security guards or maybe even teaching staff. So that would be my vote, to allow teachers to go through some sort of mandatory gun safety and hostile situation training if they have a desire to carry a firearm on school campus.

Well the gun wouldn't just be hanging out in the open. No one would know that you are carrying unless you had to draw your weapon.

no one should ever know your carrying, so someone is not going to just walk by and grab it. I think it is a good idea in some instances and not so good in other instances. All of the libs think gun people are just crazy and will act out towards anything. Well those thoughts have been discredited and CCw people have shown to be some of the most responisible people in the country. I do think CC should be legal on campus.

take Va Tech for instance. after that tradgedy last year the campus has now gone to a gun free zone. Do they really think this is going to stop something like that from happening again. If some stressed out punk want to bring a gun on campus, it is going to happen? I would like to have some way of protecting myself from wackos like that.

I find it simply amazing and apalling that people can say things like this after VA Tech, no offense mdvaldosta. This is the sheep mentality.

To get a license you have to take a state mandated safety course. That license allows you to carry that firearm statewide, why should a school campus be any different? And sadly, a school campus might be one of the best places to benefit from an armed presence.
